Importing subfolders

When you need to re-create the subfolder structure in a new folder similar to an existing folder, you can export the structure from the existing folder and import it into the new folder. Only the subfolder structure is transferred, not documents.

To import subfolders:

  1. Export the existing subfolder structure from the source folder as described in Exporting subfolders.
  2. Open the property page of the folder where you want to import the subfolders as described in Viewing and editing folder properties.
  3. In the ribbon, in the Import/Export group, click Import subfolders. The Import subfolders from file page appears.
  4. Click options or type values using the descriptions in the following table.

Option Description

Choose file

Click Browse and select the .csv file that you want to import.

Type

In the list, click the name of the folder type that you want to apply to the new subfolders.

Lifecycle

In the list, click the name of the life cycle that you want to apply to the new subfolders.

Notification

If you want to notify other users that the subfolders have been created:

  1. Select Project Portal users, groups, and email addresses.
  2. Type the recipient names and other email addresses in the text box. Click Find to search for users or groups.

Access control

In the list, click the name of the access profile that you want to apply to the new subfolders.
  1. Click Create sub-tree. The subfolders are created with the options that you specified.
